With the beginning of 2019, CONTIPARK draws a positive balance of the past twelve months. In 2018, the growth trend that has characterized CONTIPARK's business years for a long time continued. A total of 27 new parking facilities was acquired, 25 of them in Germany. Altogether 13 of the 27 new properties are parking facilities near railway stations, which CONTIPARK operates on behalf of the joint venture with Deutsche Bahn, DB BahnPark.
New parking facilities in new cities
With some of the new parking facilities, CONTIPARK is represented for the first time in cities such as the Carinthian state capital of Klagenfurt (with the "Viktringer Ring" parking lot), Radolfzell on Lake Constance (with the "Mühlbach-Center" car park) and Leer in East Frisia (with the "Leffers City" car park and parking lot). Its new presence in Dresden is particularly important for the company. After CONTIPARK was able to secure a property in a unique prestige location with the management of the "Semperoper" underground car park, a second property in the Saxon state capital, the "Wiesentorstrasse" parking lot, was acquired just a few months later. The entry into the Klagenfurt park market plays a similarly important role for CONTIPARK's business in Austria. With the underground car park "Dominikanerkloster" in Graz, the company was able to secure a second property in Austria in 2018 and is now represented with four parking facilities in the Styrian state capital.
Numerous projects successfully completed
Further highlights in the course of the year were the opening of the underground car parks "Schildergasse" (Cologne) and "RheinMain CongressCentrum" (Wiesbaden). With the demolition of the old "Cäcilienstraße" multi-storey car park and the construction of the underground car park under the new name "Schildergasse", CONTIPARK played an active role in Cologne's urban development and secured the parking facility a position as a long-term property. In Wiesbaden, the RMCC underground car park guarantees the functionality of the newly built, ultra-modern RheinMain CongressCentrum. The new underground car park provides its guests, tourists and locals with modern, convenient and inexpensive parking facilities in Wiesbaden's city centre.
At the end of last year, the renovation of the "Wallstraße" multi-storey car park in Braunschweig, which lasted around three years, was also successfully completed. Since autumn, it has shown its new appearance and offers its users state-of-the-art parking comfort with over 600 parking spaces.
Digital services in demand
CONTIPARK has also made considerable progress in the digital sector. With the launch of www.mein-contipark.at in autumn last year, the company's own online shop for parking is now also available in Austria. The P Card, which offers customers of CONTIPARK's digital parking service ticket-free entry and exit, cashless payment and attractive discounts at many parking facilities, also recorded an increase in user numbers in 2018 and thus continues to grow. CONTIPARK already welcomed its 150,000th P Card customer in January and broke the 200,000 barrier in December.
With 575 parking facilities throughout Germany and Austria, the CONTIPARK Group, which is now represented in over 200 cities in both countries, was able to further expand its market leadership in 2018.
