New campaign

Out of a total of 4,152 road fatalities last year, one-third lost their lives in accidents caused by inappropriate speed.

The Runter vom Gas" road safety campaign was launched jointly by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development and the German Road Safety Council in March 2008, in cooperation with the German Statutory Accident Insurance Institution. Using billboard posters along motorways, it aims to raise motorists' awareness of the consequences of inappropriate speed. In addition, it involves adverts, television, cinema and radio commercials, plus extensive publicity and specialist activities.

Contipark supports this campaign in cooperation with the DB BahnPark GmbH. The posters are to specifically address those groups that are particularly at risk in road traffic, for example commuters parking at railway stations.
