The CONTIPARK Group will build a 13 million euro expensive car park as the owner and operate it in the future as the owner leasehold for the first time. Thus the leader completes its unique expertise in the areas of rehabilitation, project development, rehabilitation and revitalization, providing full-service for every task in the parking area.
At Jena-Lobeda the University Hospital Jena (UKJ) will be created until 2019 as a national large hospital with over 1,000 beds and the central medical supply and research institutions. There 15 clinics will be united in the future, which are now spread even over the city of Jena. Thus there will arise 4,500 jobs. Besides many benefits, this evidently entails a challenge for the district with it, among other things, for the parking situation. By increasing in this context, traffic is well prepared by the establishment of the spacious new parking facility in the future.
With the construction CONTIPARK has mandated the Deutsche Industrie- und Parkhausbau GmbH as the general contractor. The GIVT mbH has planned the alternative design for the car park, has won the CONTIPARK investors competition.
4 ½ levels on 37000 m² with more than 1,300 parking spaces
The modern 37,000 square meter car park for UKJ has been constructed on an area about the size of a football field. It will accommodate after finishing more than 1,300 locations on 4 ½ levels. The 2,50m wide pitches are applied in helical formation to allow comfortable parking maneuvers. A total of four entrances and three exits ensure a smooth traffic flow. The main staircase with two lifts is facing the hospital and ensuring proximity. Three side staircases and a further lift to the visitors and patients are available. Colored designed facade elements give the entire construction in the future a modern and attractive appearance that fits into the overall architectural concept of the University Hospital. In this special soundproofing technical and square or legal requirements had to be met. Thus, the facade was carried out on the street as a chimney to ensure the functionality of an open car park. Particularly sensitive areas of the ceiling and the helical ramps were covered sound-absorbing. The environment of the parking garage is integrated into the landscaping, a green roof is provided. Inside, only energy-efficient LED lamps are installed, which are connected to a sophisticated control system with motion detectors. Modern technology will be installed in other areas, such as the Park handling system and video surveillance.
In May 2016, the car park will be commissioned on schedule by CONTIPARK in operation. In the nearly 15-month construction period 4,000 cubic meters of concrete and 1,200 tons of steel were used. After completion, it will provide patients and visitors 365 days a year, all around the clock. Increased comfort of use for the parking visitors also promises a connection to the national control center in Berlin.
"The special challenge in this project in bringing together the interests of hospital operators, employees, visitors and local residents," says Michael Kesseler, CEO of Contipark Group. "We are very pleased that we were able to meet these high expectations, especially as we have done with a lot of passion, the planning and construction of this impressive car park together with our partners".
