As the only chamber of industry and commerce in Germany, the IHK Cologne regularly conducts a city-wide parking garage test. Already in 2010 Contipark was the winner of this test, at that time with the underground car park "Am Dom". Now the company has again won the title. The winner this time was the underground car park "Schildergasse", which was opened last year.
The parking facility in Cologne's Cäcilienstraße convinced the expert jury above all with its very good routing of vehicles and pedestrians, state-of-the-art technology such as individual space recognition and a digital guidance system for motorists, as well as its exemplary implementation of data protection.
Every three years, the Cologne Chamber of Commerce and Industry has parking facilities in Cologne's city centre examined for their user-friendliness. The main criteria are the building's design, lighting conditions, orientation, safety and accessibility, and innovative approaches receive special points. In addition to employees from the Office for Integration and Diversity and the Office for Traffic Management of the City of Cologne, the jury also includes representatives from the Crime Prevention Department of the Police and the ADAC Nordrhein.
The "Schildergasse" underground car park is the result of a revitalization project carried out by Contipark and its project partner HOCHTIEF in recent years. As part of this project, the old "Cäcilienstraße" multi-storey car park, which was formerly located at this site, was demolished and replaced by a state-of-the-art underground car park with a hotel complex above it. Contipark thus complied with the plans of the City of Cologne and actively pursued urban development in the center of the cathedral city.
The Contipark multi-storey car park "Am Friesenplatz" also was honoured during the test. The IHK tested a total of 15 multi-storey car parks and underground garages in the city centre of Cologne.
